700/900 Instrument Cluster Question 700

I have a 92 740t wagon with a dead speedo/odometer, all other gauges work. I also have a 93 940t wagon in which all gauges work except the fuel and it's intermittent. I confirmed the speedo gauge failure in the 740 by swapping in the 940 cluster and it worked fine, except for the fuel gauge. My question is: I have located a replacement cluster, used with basically no warranty except for exchange if defective. I can buy either a cluster from a 92 740t or a cluster from a 93 940t for basically the same money. Is the 740 cluster more prone to speedometer failure as opposed to the 940 cluster, and is the 940 cluster more prone to fuel gauge failure as opposed to the 740 cluster. Which should I buy, or which is the lesser of two evils. I may have the 740 cluster repaired, i'm just waiting on a quote. Thanks in advance
