Removing brake caliper RETAINING PIN when installing Virgo wheels? 200

Somewhere I read that when Virgo/Turbo alloy wheels are installed on a 240 that didn't come with Virgo's from the factory (like my 1990 245), the retaining pin on the brake caliper should be removed.

Does this make sense?

Why? (Yep, I'm a newbie).
