Hi everybody, my 89 760 Turbo sedan just died, what started as a very big shaking, and then turned into metal knocking and into no power in low rpms, and then full power at turbo boost, ended with no start, 200 yards from work, and I was on time. Yesterday I started feeling this unusual shaking of the engine at red lights, and was thinking my motor/transmission mounts went bad but then this morning I even started to hear knocking under acceleration, and like metal knocking, I stopped and looked under the hood- nothing, when I turned off the engine, it was very hard to start again, (unusual - new head, recent tune up and etc)I barely made it to work, and could hardly move from the light- very low power, until turbo kicks in then I can do 55 until next light, where I would have to use my emergency lights for 40 sec, but anyway towed the car back home, and took out timing belt thinking my timing is bad and the belt slipped, still no start. I am going to check fuel pump operation and ECU- suspecting a bad knock sensor which led to major ECU failure. Checked the oil- clear, coolant- is ok too, at least no leaks. another thing- when I crank the car, seams like the noise is different- no compression on one cylinder, or may be my imagination.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Alex
