'92 240 - Sounds "smushy' 200

'92 240 sedan with 165,000 miles. Car runs fine but there is a slight 'smushy' sounds. Only noticeable at idle since I think the sound is covered by other engine noise. Coming from engine bay. Does not seem 100% consistent although I haven't identified the trend - perhaps worse when the air is damp?? Haven't spend a bunch of time trying to track it down but looking for pointers of where to start

Not sure if this is connected (I suspect not) - the car had a few no starts this summer on hot days - turned over but seemed like no fuel. I found the fuel pump fuse was getting hotter than I suspect it should. Cleaned the fuse contacts and checked the fuel pump relay and the problem hasn't reoccurred.
