It's a shame that brass/bronze won't stick to cast iron. That approach is only a short-term fix until you can have the crack welded shut with iron/steel. Note that all of the brass/bronze will have to be removed before the correct repair can be made.

That being said, get a new used un-cracked exhaust manifold off the bone yard, that's the best bet! Check your injectors to ensure you don't have a cylinder that is running hot/lean!
