funny idiot light behavior in cold weather 200 1991

it's 22F outside. upon cold start, 3 idiot lights stay on: parking brake (regardless parking brake engaged or not, only differ in brightness), brake failure and bulb failure.

if i step on the gas a slight bit--~1000rpm, the lights immediately go away and car will function normally. lights will not come back until the next cold start.

from reading the wiring diagram, it seems to me that these three are the ONLY warning lights that have diodes connected in parallel to them (to short them out in normal operation of car). so my conclusion is either the voltage regulator has bad contact, or the diodes just don't like the cold weather.
