EZ lube oil change and free Battery test 200 1985

Ok I'm a sucker for free..Had my oil and filter changes at the locale EZ Lube. So the tech / High School Kid said I'll check your battery health for free..So I said sure why not..So he hooked up this hand held device that went through it's pace and low and behold it reports back that I have an unhealthy battery...UMMMMM... Ok what is the battery voltage???? 12.95 volts he says..What's charging with a load on it...13.5 the kids said...My battery is a 9 month old red top Duralast that I've tested before just kind of mucking around to check voltage and load everything checks out ok...so my question is can these hand held computer testing device really tell battery health on the usual Bosch system for a 85 245 TIC....Just curious...
