handbrake lever ring - part 660651 444-544

I thought I'd cross post here to see if any 444/544 owners can tell me if their cars had metal or plastic for this part. So far I have been able to establish that Amazons had a chrome plated metal ring up until at least sometime in 1961. Some time after that they switched to plastic which is too fragile and often seen broken in Amazons. I am guessing that 444/544's may have had these parts as metal for all but the last of those produced. I haven't been able to find reference to a change in part number between the metal and plastic parts. Reproduction plastic parts are cheap and readily available.

Take a look at the discussion in the thread below and email me via my profile if you are interested in this part hand crafted from stainless steel.
