Is this sneakiest mechanic's best trick to damage your car & ripoff $1000+ ? 200 1979

Most of us BrickBoarders are aware of the trick of blocking the flame trap on certain model & year Volvos to increase crankcase pressure to blow the rear main seal - a $500+ job. Well here is a better trick to get $1000+.

This trick is best performed when getting valve clearance checked/adjusted since the valve cover needs to be off - though its only a couple of minutes to remove the cover. The trick is to simply undo the head bolt between #1 & #2 exhaust ports - closest to where high pressure oil is pumped from the block up to the head and leave the bolt finger tight. No visible damage but over time the block will deform and an oil leak will occur since there is only 7 mm from the oil hole to the edge of the block. Over more time coolant will leak as well since the coolant hole is 10 mm to edge of block. The mechanic then says you have corrosion causing the leaks and your head will need to be welded & planed & maybe additional head work. Plus big labor to remove & replace head.

I only found out what my mechanic was doing or should that be wrecking when I retired and had time to do many repairs myself. (Substandard work like damaged seals, stripped bolts held in place with silastic, loose bolts, being charged for new seals that were "repaired" with silastic, etc). I took the head off myself and no corrosion or gasket damage anywhere. I have never had any head work done so all heads bolts would have been torqued at the factory many years ago.
