Time to dump the Weber...advice needed. 140-160 1971

Please see ARRGHHHH SU's---- in the 122 section and sdewolfe's answer. As far as your Weber goes--if it is of the 32/36 variety there's no reason for it to not work properly in all aspects--although some aspects, like the auto choke require some re-engineering, it's all simple stuff anyone reading this board can do. Haynes has an excellent book on Weber carbs and Weber has some publications that are essential to tailoring a carb to a particular motor. But sometimes change is good and going to properly working SU's (the choice for original is Stromberg or SU). You'll need either a caste iron combo manifold-I have one-or a FI exhaust manifold (difficult, but not impossible to find) or headers combined with an standard B18 aluminum intake manifold-I have those-set of carbs-I have Strombergs and SU's (consider as cores for rebuilding), heat shield appropriate to carb choice, firewall to engine linkage, link(s) to carbs, choke cable with assorted hardware, and the air filter housing and thermal coupler for heated intake (especially if you live in a northern climate). I should have all of that. Think it over. If you'd like some help getting the Weber to work ok I'd be glad to share what I know. -- Dave
