Other Daughter's! car rough and slow idle AND no power 700 1990

Everything happens at once.
Just got the 91 245 going good (replaced intake gasket), now the 90 745 [Regina] gives up!
My daughter got it home by keeping it above 2000 rpm, she said.

Now the symptoms seem different:
Car starts fine, idles OK, initially. Put in drive and accelerate, everything normal. After about 10-30 seconds, car loses power, throttle unresponsive, engine slows to a rough idle. Opening throttle causes some backfiring, but barely any change in engine speed. May keep idling (at about 500rpm) or stall. BUT
Re start car, will run fine for about 10-20 seconds! Same process over and over. Run for 20 seconds, loses power. Turn off, restart, fine again for 20 seconds.

I had problems with the intake pump assy. a year ago. The hose from the pump into the metal exit pipe kept coming loose. I put in a wire hanger to keep it together, but it may have failed?
Still, why does it run well after EVERY restart?
Was going to check fuel pressure. Any hints on getting the connector apart on the fuel rail without bending the fuel rail?
