Question for Triode52 or others, fuel gauge only swap, 93 to 92 cluster 700

Yes, it is possible to swap the gauges. The mounting screws that provide power to the gauge are unfortunately in different locations on each cluster. I soldered wire leads to the 1992 gauge and I used extra screws to electrically connect the gauge to the cluster. Unfortunately, I do not remember exactly where the wires are supposed to go. Fortunately a few of the screws lined up correctly so that the gauge was mountable and IIRC the screws were correct electrically as well but I am not 100% on this. I remember having both clusters out and and using an ohm meter to find power, ground, sender, etc using the 1992 wiring diagram of the wiring harness connectors on the back of the cluster as a reference. My dad's 1992 has a 1993 gauge cluster in it also and he solved the fuel gauge problem by mounting a 1993+ sender unit in the gas tank.

I will look at my paperwork tonight and I will try to get a more detailed response back to you soon.

Best Regards,

Mike
