Adding Voltmeter to instrument panel 700 1986

Thanks for the suggestions. I've added a voltmeter to wifemobile (89 740 sedan) and it worked. I had one on my older panel and it worked (after a good slap on the dash to wake it up). The present one reads the voltage OK, but no interior lights...though, they came on weakly, then went out a little while ago when I was out in the rain and cold night working via flashlight. I'll check out the connections in the morning when it is forecast to be warmer. Sigh.
Sometimes one gets the gold mine, other times the shaft.
Gracias,
el raidman
