Best way to drop multilink rear in one unit... 700 1989

Getting a grinding/howling out of my rear axle or diffy. Know of a 760 in a JY near me and thinking i'll just swap the whole damn thing out.. By the time i get thru dissasembling and diagnosing it i figured it would just be easier to change the rear end assembly as a unit, friend has a shop with lift and tools required to do the task, what are your thoughts?....... TIA Tom27940aholic PS it's an 89 764ti w/143k on it, automatic.......
