Is the outside handle physically broken, or just out of adjustment?

If the handle is clearly broken, you can probably cut a hole in it to allow access to the plunger that opens the door. Of course you'll have to replace the handle afterward.

Other then that I'm not sure what to tell you. I've had some luck getting out of adjustment door handles open by pulling REALLY REALLY high on the end of the handle closest to the back of the car. Sometimes you can JUST get the door to release.
