York to Sandeen AC conversion 200

I just bought a 1983 245 Turbo with a bad AC compressor and was wondering if anybody had advice about upgrading to a rotary style compressor. Looks like 1985 was the year they switched. Would I need new brackets? New hoses and/or fittings? Anything else? Is it a relatively easy job or a pain? Would the theoretically increased power/mileage be worth the effort? Also: does anyone know why the price of R134 conversion kits went through the roof over the last year? At current price, it doesn't seem worth making the switch. Thanks in advance for any and all advice
