No Idle Saga Continues/Dies after a minute 200

hey all, I'm posting about the 90 240 wagon 170/k that my dad posted about in ...november..Bonzo nov 21, Anyway, I got out there the other day to check it out and this is what happened. First of all the car starts, but without putting your foot on the gas it dies in 10-15 secs. So I checked for vacuum leaks, i listened for the fuel pumps, seemed fine. i even went ahead and checked the diagnostic codes, 1-1-1, and the throttle switch code was fine as well. Interesting to note that i could keep the car going by keeping my foot on the gas, as long as two-three minutes, it still would die if i took my foot off the gas. Then i turned it off to investigate some other stuff, 10 minutes later tried it again with worse results, this time with the check engine light came on, did the code test again, same results. I also drove it down the street, hardly any power, didn't like it...
Any more ideas, I'm thinking something with the throttle assembly or, something that has to do with the sensors involved with idling. plus its pretty cold over here in ohio...
Thanks for any ideas
cp
