How can I make my '82 240 fail smog? 200

Your distorted sense of reality is humorous at best. Sure, your dad is doing 50MPG in a Prius while doing 35 in a 70 MPH zone! You are talking about and encouraging the taxpayer funded destruction of a 25 to 30MPG car despite the fact that it is running fine. Were talking about a decent gas mileage level compared to the Hemis and other mass consumers formerly coming out of the Dieseltroit production lines at $40+ an hour labor rate for tightening screws!

What about the new fuel hogs coming off the Hummer line? They provide far more tax income to the state than a Prius, ie. the state gives incentives for the Prius, but slaps a gas guzzler and luxury tax on the Hummer!

Check your math, and at a $1.50 for gas prove to me that a Prius makes financial sense over five years! BTW, the Prius uses oil as well! Not to mention the heavy metal battery disposal issue.
