Locking diff axle ratios? 700

I have a 3.91 in an 85 745 Turbo diesel. It is mated to the ZF transmission and D24T engine. I am putting that engine/tranny combination into a '92 Turbo 745 that had a gas engine. I chose that model because it has the auto locking diff and sometimes I need that in the mountains of NC on my driveway. The 92 car has a 3.73 which means the engine will lug a bit more and if it works out poorly, I would like to return to 3.91 but I am loathe to lose the locking diff feature.
