check your lower A-arm bushings, one of mine went and it would shimmy and shake when i hit the brakes. it statred as a now and then thing and all of a sudden it was all the time, checked all the usual front end components as well as the a-arm bushings and didn't catch it at first. getting the large bolt out is a pain in the ass as well...

does it happen when let off the gas or when you hit the brakes?
