90 740T Engine sounds like a box of rocks in the bottom 700

I have a 225k turbo engine that seemed to be running fine other than being sluggish. A couple of days ago I started it in -12 deg far. and it started but sounded like I had poured a couple big rocks into the bottom of it. I immediately turned it off and waited for a warmer day. In 45 deg weather I started it again. It started right up but the rock sound begins at rpms greater than idle. Any thoughts on what the problem is?

Thanks
Chad
