Distributor Stab 700 1987

You are welcome.

You can test the distributor by plugging the connector into it with the distributor not installed in the head. Make sure you've grounded the high tension coil lead so you don't get bit. Spin the distributor with your hand. If the distributor is working, you'll hear the injectors clattering like mad. You normally can't hear the injectors because of the rest of the engine, or starter, noise.

You need to check the three wires connecting to the Hall effect inside the distributor. I suspect one is touching the distributor case. The Hall effect pick up lasts a long time. I've only had one failure in about 800,000 miles of service on our fleet of 700 series.
