Yeah, I'll second that.
I once had an 1800 a '68 the kind with the gas cap on top. when the drain hole for that area around the filler got pluged water got in the tank every timeit rained.
Drain a little gas from the tank see if you get water and or dirt/rust whatever. you MAY have to drain the whole tank, put in a new filter and some dry gas.
