93 Odometer Failure - Not the gear 200

Our 1993 240 has an intermittent odometer which has gotten worse and worse to the point where it rarely works now. I carefully disassembled it and confirmed that the typical broken gear didn't break per the several well done web pages on that common problem. The last time I had it apart some of the capacitors looked suspect, so I replaced all of them except one which I cannot tell the value of because the writing is worn off it. That seemed to help for a time, but then the thing degraded and again is mostly not working.

Some google references suggest it might be a bad electric motor. Does anyone know how I can check it? Is there any source for the actual schematic of the speedometer/odometer cluster so I can find out what that other capacitor is?

Any advice is greatly appreciated ... and Happy New Year!
