91 240 stuck in park 200

OK - it was stuck in park this morning. I lifted the plastic shifter cover on the transmission tunnel and moved a little plastic piece slightly and it allowed the car to shift. Drove it a little, put it in park and it stayed there. Moved the little yellow plastic piece again, and voila!

Problem is you have to move the little piece every time you shift out of park - not a good option for my 17 year-old daughter.

Any thoughts, guidance, or solutions would be appreciated! Happy New Year!
