Auto to Manual Transmission Swap - Advice Sought 200 1977

I just started a project to revive my 77 242DL (stored outside since Dec 99).

The car has the original auto tranny (a 3-speed, I think), and since I'm going to be going through the car system by system I thought it might be a good time to put in a manual transmission correct for that year.

My brother (a very experienced gear head) is going to be helping/supervising the project, so technical ability won't be an issue.

My questions:
-Anyone done this with a 77 240DL before?
-Is there a resource anywhere that has complete parts lists and step-by-step instructions?
-Am I crazy for considering this, and should I just be happy to keep the loud, slushy original transmission?

Thanks in advance,

Didenpx
