Good catch eagle eye! ...that would certainly be a real easy way to buy that half inch you need in order to simply use the original bracket...it looks like that's what Bill did in his installation.

Sam; Do you see what eagle eye Eric is talking about? ...so you have two options...you can procure another double pulley alt to use, and make it significantly easier on yourself, or, if you have your heart set on using the alt you already have, need to gain that half inch...

I did some checking on a bracket I have here, and it looks like you might be able to relocate the bracket forward about that much by drilling new mounting holes just to the rear of the existing holes...yes, these would be close to the originals, but could simply be smaller 5/16" clearance which wouldn't break into the existing holes...shockmounts are not required for the alt. holes...washers are recommended...and the one on the rearmost bolt may need to be cut into a D-shape to clear the very close bracket tab.
