fuel pump problem 200 1985

I recently bought an 1985 Volvo 240, it ran great when I picked up and brought it home. It sat in the drive way for a couple of days, I started it up and it ran fine, after the third day it had a problem starting up, and now it will not start at all. It seems to have a problem not getting any fuel (it does have spark). I have checked the fuses, fuel pump relay. I did find out at the main fuel pump that the wires (2) were bare and touching each other. I repaired the wires and replaced the pump, but this was to no avail. The fuel pumps do not seem to run or activate at all. The fuel pump relay was making a strange clicking noise also. Can some one let me know if how to check this problem. out, thanks for any help.
