fuel pump problem 200 1985

There are several post on this problem.

There is a way to jump around the relay at the fuse panel. I think a jumper between four and sixs number fuse but check other post for accurate information.

It usually is a bad fuel pump relay circuit board. I think is under the dash on the passenger side. Some have soldered the joints fixing cracks or cold joints.

In your case of bad wires shorting together you may have drawn so much current that contacts have melted off and no longer work. Got to find the relay and take it apart. Condemn or fix. Some carry a spare in their glove box as I have read.

Your car appears to have some neglect issues. Good luck.
