Notch on distributor housing 200 1993

There is supposed to be an insert fitting the sausage-shaped hole in the distributor hold-down flange that prevents any "adjustment" of the distributor's position. It is very possible the last guy has removed this.

I don't know where, exactly the center of the rotor's contact should be with respect to the notch, given the distributor's alignment is fixed, but remember, at TDC, the timing is at its least advanced, and that contact needs to cover the entire range of advance from that point. That is why the contact is so wide compared with distributors that also control the spark timing.

So with respect to the number one wire contact in the cap, you can see why it should be at one extreme and not centered when the crank is at TDC.
