D24 - water hose (firewall block) from other car? 700 1989

Hi all!
I've got simple question - will Volvo 1257348 water hose (as printed on it) can be replaced with hose originating from other car? European are only considered...
Mine has broke, can't be fixed and it is damn difficult to find spare one in my country. I asked Google, but it doesn't know the answer :-(
The car is 740 diesel (D24 naturally aspirated), no A/C, hose comes from firewall (heater core) into engine block (or header, not quite sure, but it doesn't really matter) just near firewall. It has different diameters on both ends.
Below firewall output connector comes another hose, but this one comes along engine block to the thermostat.

Well, I hope I described it fully recognizable, please forgive if I used bad nomenclature - english is not my origin langugage anyway.
