S90 engine block serial number S90-V90 1998

I don't know anything abbout the codes, but it may not hurt to ask this question over at the 900 forum as well. Or maybe call a used volvo parts specialist like erievovo.com. They might be able to help.

The 97 might mean the year it was made, but it may not mean the year of the car it came from. You know, they'll be selling 2010 model year cars in about 6 months from now.

Either way, there was really nothing changed between the engines used in 97 and 98 cars.
