1995 960 Kickpanel removal 900 1995

How do you remove the kick panels, right and left, without breaking them and without having to gut the rest of the interior? I tried this once and had to remove all plastic trim all the way to the back seat. This CANNOT be the right way. Someone please tell me the right way as I have developed a leak somewhere underneath the kick panel. Maybe someone has had this same problem. PLease help!
