'84 245Ti (50k on rebuild)... Rough Idle/Engine dies under hard braking... 200

Hey everyone, I need some suggestions on a frustrating situation on my turbo wagon. I changed the oil yesterday, gave it some nice fuel injector cleaner and than it wouldn't start while on the ramps. I probably flooded the heck out of it trying and eventually getting it to start. While pumping the pedal, there were quite a few loud pops that sounded like backfires coming from the engine bay??? I drove the heck out of it on the freeway to try to "clear" out any deposits, fuel, etc. On my drive to work today, it's idling very rough, (same thing as last April when the injectors were clogged), but this time when I applied the brakes under a sudden stop, it died! Got it started again and replicated this scenario once I got into our parking lot at work, (idle dropped and died after hard stop). Should I break down and buy new injectors, (only 50k since replaced on rebuild), or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The vehicle is automatic...
Thanks!
