Intermittent NO SPARK on my girls' 91 - EZ-116K - motor mounts or ???? 200 1991

Hello All,

I spent the weekend up in Asheville NC trying to help my daughter keep her 240 running. It has had an intermittent no-start and even an occasional stall while running condition. I knew it had to be either fuel or spark, and confirmed this weekend that it is the later...intermittent no spark. We purchased a spare plug, gapped correctly, and plugged into #1 plug. Most of the time it will fire, but maybe once every 10 starts the spark is gone.

While reading my BENTLEY for her car, pg.280-3, it details reading fault codes. Everytime the same, 1-1-1 for AOK. However, I noted at top of the page "before trouble-shooting ignition, check for broken/loose motor mounts". So for grins I put a large hammer handle against the intake and had her crank...STARTED on the first try! I know some of the history of the "breakaway motor mounts", and hers look quite old, but I jacked up the engine and couldn't see a clean break on either of the fronts. Using only my gut, I decided to disconnect the KNOCK sensor as it could be the only thing (I reasoned) that could feel the impact from excessive motion. While it continued to start that day, the next it was right back where we began.

This car has around 230K on the clock. Certainly many others here had suffered such an issue. Please give me some advice. Cap, rotor, wires and plugs are recent as well. I see lots of items in the schematic. Where to begin????

Thanks all,

DET17
