Regina Fuel Injection Air Temperature sensor question. 700 1990

The FAQ 700/900 section on Engine Sensors says that the air temperature sensor in the air inlet just behind the air cleaner, which is part of the fuel injection system, is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor and gives a range of temperature/resistance test values. The one on my car reads 4 ohms no matter what the temperature. So I bought a new one which reads exactly the same.
I used an analogue multimeter and a hair dryer for the test.
Any ideas why I am getting such diferent results?
