Well, the car is 200 miles away and the family member is challenged in many ways.

The belt is not loose. The battery connections were really questionable but now they have been replaced and diagnosis can commence.

I am familiar with the Bosch regulator/brush modules and hopefully I can coax them into swapping them so I dont have to drive down there.
