'94 940 wagon Engine R&R 900

Here's a question to those who have pulled the engine/tranny.
I find myself in need of replacing the crankshaft (don't ask)and figured I would freshen the tranny while I was at it (it is shifting poorly after 250K).
So, the plan is to pull the engine/tranny as a single unit.
I have a full height scissor lift & a chain fall but nothing handy to hang the chain fall from.
While perusing the undercarriage it occurred to me that it might be easier (in my current situation) to support the engine, drop the front suspension, and drop the engine/tranny out the bottom of the car.
Is this feasible? Or am I better off finding/building something to hang the chain fall from?
