240 Front Engine Main Seal Leak - Grooved Crank 200 1991

Hi,
Searched the forums for this and could not find help. I have had a front engine seal leak for several years on my 91 240. The car has 250,000 miles on it. Last year I took it to two separate independent mechanics to have a new seal installed. In both cases it continued to leak. The first guy had taken over the shop of a really good mechanic who had retired. First guy did not measure up to his predecessor. Second fellow told me he might have a problem because the crank might have a groove worn in it, but he would do his best although he could not guarantee that he could fix the leak. He failed also. He claimed that he did not press the seal the normal depth in so that the lip would ride outside the groove. So, there must be some cool fix out there to handle this because there are a lot of old Volvos on the road. Anyone have some good suggestions? Thanks!
