Where is the ballast resistor located? 200 1983

I am reconnecting my wiring harness on a '83 244 GL with B23F motor, and cannot seem to find the ballast resistor. According to my diagrams, one side of the resistor (brown wire) goes to terminal 16 of the starter solenoid and terminal 15(+) of the ignition coil, the other side (blue wire) goes to (depending upon the diagram) either the ignition module or the fuse box. I need to replace the wire from the starter solenoid to the resistor. With an ohmmeter, I traced the wire from the ignition coil to a single wire connector near the firewall on the passenger side of the engine compartment. The connector did not have anything connected, and nothing appears to have been mounted in the vicinity. I have looked around the engine bay pretty closely, but still no resistor. Please help!
