Replacement is straight forward.

Like the other post you should bleed the air out as much as you can. There will be instructions on how to perform a bench bleed.

Since you have a pressure bleeder all you have to to is route the fluid to a clean container. To be sure air didn't get down the lines. You may want to clear it all the way out the system. Your choice when you check pedal.

Watch for the replacement master cylinder to have the same depth from the end of the casting to the piston hole that the rod fits. I doubt there will be a problem on Volvo's. They don't change much.


On American cars. Rebuilt ones can get different depth piston holes. Cross references are not all what they should be. Sometimes the booster rods has to be adjusted or exchanged within the kit.
