Cruise Control 700 1990

Read the FAQ's on this subject, and search through earlier post, there are about a million of them (half of which i've made asking for help).

Does your speedometer work? If it doesn't you've either got a faulty speed sensor (located in the rear differential), bad wiring from the speed sensor, bad connection at the rear of the cluster, or a bad cluster all together. Any of these would need addressed.

Check the vacuum line that runs through the firewall from the cruise control servo to the brake light switch on the brake pedal. If this is disconnected on either end or is leaking, no cruise control. Check for proper function of the brake light switch, and you can't have a bulb failure/brake light failure light on or the cruise will not work.

Check the cruise control servo itself, take the vacuum line off, manually depress (force the air out) and put your finger over the hole for the line. The servo should stay depressed, if it doesn't it is defective and needs replaced.

Check the cruise control pump, located on the drivers side fender well, somewhat underneath the power steering fluid reservoir, toward rear of the car. Verify that it is receiving power and there are no disconnected/leaking vacuum lines.

Check the turn signal stalk, cruise control switch etc for broken/faulty wiring.

There is a cruise control module (small black box) located on the drivers side foot well (kind of up underneath/over the e-brake pedal. I don't think these often fail, but you can find how to confirm it is receiving signal/working in the FAQ's.

Most of the time, a vacuum leak/disconnected line or a bad servo is the culprit, but it could be something else. There is a test as well for the cruise control signal that an be performed through the diagnostic box(es) your car has. This is outlined in the FAQ's as well. I'm sure others will have more to ad, but if you research here there is plenty to read. Good Luck
