passing with a 245 200 1987

I feel like my '87 245 is kind of pokey. Passing is just about out of the question. I know that it will never be a rocketship, but my 1.5L '82 Honda Civic (with 300,000+ miles) was better at getting out and around than this car. I don't remember our '84 245 being this slow...

Other than staying way back, planning ahead, etc., etc., are there things to do or check that would help ? It runs good. Plugs might be a little light, but not stark raving white. New clutch. Mileage is a shade over 27 mpg.

Thanks

Greg
