Cosidering a '91 240 as daughter's car 200

I found a '91 240 that I'm thinking of purchasing. Only took a quick look at it so far, will look closer on Friday. Haven't ever bought a Volvo that new and am a little gun shy. I'm more comfortable with carburetted cars.

It's no creampuff, but looks decent. The only thing I know about it to far is that it's an automatic, 217,000 miles and that the catylitic converter was stolen off of it. Will have to see if it was unbolted or hacked off.

I know to look for rust issues. I have a good handle on mechanical things. My concern is the electrical - specifically the ECU, SRS. I'm afraid that if the catylitic was hacked off, something like the computer may be wrong now and will end up costing many $ to fix. Just a cat will likely run around $300 or so for the part.

The guy at the garage where it's located said he'd take a couple hundred bucks for it. I'm thinking it's only worth maybe $1500 when fixed. That doesn't leave me a lot in the budget.

Ahhh. Decisions.
