740 1991 speedo and tranny issues 700 1991

speedo works 1% of time, i am guessing it is problem in sender on reaer diff.

tranny, hard shift into 2, over revs(3000-3300 rpm) and have to let off gas for shift to 3, same for overdrive but not quite as bad, i let more slack out of kickdown, but now the little metal stop on the cable at spool end has hit his stop, any more slacking will just produce slop at the throttle spool. when i pulled the cable at spool end it was smooth and i could hear the click in the tranny when i pulled far enough, i did not feel any other bump or detent in the travel of the cable, just the click when the cable reached its end.

after loosening cable about 6 flats, i noticed a smoother shift into 2, but still have to let off gas at just right rpm to cause an upshift to 3, and od will not engage at all unless you are near or over 45, at that speed even the slightest pressure to gas will cause downshift from od to 3. this tranny was "rebuilt", about 20,000 miles ago to solve worse problem, is there perhaps some check balls that were not really replaced? the kickdown seemed to move smoothly in its sheath which was worn, but still crimped right at spool end.
