How well do you know your clutch cable? 200

I replaced my second clutch cable today in two years (under three). I had a spare under my passenger seat since the last time I had it break while adjusting it in the garage. This time it was starting out at a light in the middle of town. I pulled over into a slanted parking spot and replaced it using my stock jack (not good). It took me about an hour of remembering how to get it to go on. In the process I lost the bolt thing that holds the cable to the pedal. Lucky for me I had broken the bolt/screws off the inside of my lousy taillight (now replaced with AftMkt). It fit perfect and I had a 10mm nut to hold it on with. The old cable was bought from Autozone on a sunday. I knew it looked sketchy and ordered a good one off of the internet and had it ready for the occasion. The part that always fails is the plastic part that holds the cable from being pulled through the hole between the two adjusting nuts. I wish someone would make a cable with a metal piece right there instead.

Thought I'd give the word that these things can go at anytime. I had adjusted the cable a month ago since in the cold it seems to need adjusting. Same thing happened before, in the winter, after having to adjust it a few times. I'm tempted to put some kind of 5 minute poxy all over the thing to try and strengthen it. I bought some today to fix the headlight plastic piece that broke making it move around and not be adjustable. The poxy worked to hold that metal ball joint looking thing to the plastic back cover of the light. Trying to pass emissions and safety at the moment on the 86. Failed emissions. Said it was equated to raw fuel. Told me to start with plugs/cap/rotor. I just tuned the thing up I swear like a year or two ago. Time goes too fast.
