Shift knob parts? 200

Two questions tonight. I have my 240 Wagon running like a dream. Thanks to all for all the help.

I have a picture here of the rubber piece that is all I can find of the shift knob. Can someone tell me if I can get the missing pieces online somewhere? Or if someone has come up with a home grown alternative?
Here is a picture of what I have. It looks like just an outer rubber.

Also, the amber "up arrow" comes on and off apropo of nothing that I am aware of. I am pretty sure this is the overdrive idiot light. I have no idea how I am supposed to actuate it. I don't see any wire(s) coming out of the metal shift post that I have. Is there a button on the dash? Why would it come on and off without me doing anything?

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee
