Spot welded nut for tailgate shock broke loose. Suggestions? 200

'89 245. This first happened a year or so ago, and I fixed it once but it was a royal PITA (had to get a washer and nut into correct position behind hole in rear channel on car body, then screw in). Are there other methods? I thought about drilling an oversized hole and using JB Weld or P77 to epoxy in a bolt. Any tried and true solutions?
