Climate Control Question!!! 700 1987

Fellow Bricksters,

I am contemplating changing over the air conditioning climate control on my 740 turbo. The climate has not worked properly for years and is just garbage to use with $$$ to continually fix. We are parting out our old 740GL with the manual dial/control which worked brilliantly and I want to to a change over and get rid of the climate component and revert to the older and better system, thus the question would be how hard is it to do the change over??? Has anyone attempted this before??? Any suggestions greatly appreciated...
