That's a slightly different problem than I had. Mine was bent into a U between the loop and the sheath
because the inner wire was a bit corroded. I took it out and cleaned it and oiled it, straightened
it out and put a piece of shrink tube over the place where the plastic sheath was broken. Works OK now.
